Notre Dame (Bonnyville) 9-a-side Team History: The Voyageurs are a joint school team made up of local Bonnyville high schools. The program started 12-a-side football in 1985 and in 1986, played in the inaugural Tier III championship against the Cochrane Cobras, placing second to a very dominant Cobras squad. Up until this year, the Voyageurs played in the competitive Wheatland league with mixed success. The coaching staff decided to drop down to 9-a-side as we felt the game better matched the athletes.
Wainwright High School 9-a-side Team History: What a year it has been for the Commandos, a season full of uncertainties, adversities and early injuries. Like all teams in Alberta, there were disruptions and long pauses that had many wondering if provincial play would even be a possibility. This Commandos team bought in from day one and worked hard every chance they had to take the field. The Commandos were the only team in the 9 a-side Central division to have the opportunity to finish their full season.
Breton High 6-a-side Team History: Breton is the smallest school in Alberta playing any level of football. We have been a team for 20 years, this is out 3rd trip to the Alberta Bowl failing to win the first two tries. This year we finished with a 3-1 record in the shortened season. With another win over Camrose in the semi finals. 56-18.
J.C. Charyk Hanna High 6-a-side Team History: The Hawks were fortunate to have a good year and are excited to be playing in the Alberta Bowl for the SSA Provincial Championship. They held the third seed ranking throughout the year and are now looking forward to competing against a very well coached and strong team from Breton High School. JC Charyk began playing 6-aside football in 2012 and are very grateful that there is football for small high schools with student bodies of less than 100 like themselves.
